THE HAWKSWORTH TROPHY
The prestigious Hawksworth Trophy is held every April and marks the beginning of the season. A 36-hole strokeplay competition for the leading amateur golfers in Northern England, it is one of the major events throughout the season which constitute the Yorkshire Order of Merit.
It attracts a top class field and has been a prominent event in The Bradford Golf Club calendar for nearly 40 years. The event is limited to 64 golfers with handicaps of 3 or less and is highly competitive.
In 2004, J. S. Mason of Rotherham Golf Club set a new course record of 65 in his first round, followed by a 68 in the second round to improve on the 36-hole championship record by 5 strokes. |
