Rodney Foster is well known throughout the amateur golfing circuit. He has not only been one of this country’s greatest amateur players, but he also has been one of the game's finest ambassadors.
Rodney came from a golfing family and both his parents were members of The Bradford Golf Club. His father was captain of the club in 1956 and his brother George was a scratch golfer who played for Yorkshire in the fifties.
During his career Rodney was English Amateur Strokeplay Champion in 1969 and 1970, Yorkshire Champion five times between 1963 and 1970, a Walker Cup Player five times between 1965 and 1973, Captain of England, Captain of Yorkshire and Walker Cup Captain in 1979 and 1981.
Rodney also held course records at Royal Lytham, Royal Troon, Prestbury, Leeds and Bradford. He is a Life member of The Bradford Golf Club.
